Monet, like the painter -
Hi folks! Monet here: actor, singer, creator, and adventurer extraordinaire. I'm currently traversing the United States on the National Tour of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, which is, quite literally, the biggest dream come true. It's my first tour, I am obsessed with it, and I would love to travel and sing and act forever please!
To take it back to the top, I was born and raised in Southern California (Redondo Beach, if you know it) and spent many years staying as far away from the beach as possible, as I preferred the inside of our community theater to the great outdoors. I was, and still am, extremely nerdy, and you could find me onstage whenever anyone would let me. I quickly ran away to New York City to make it *official* and get my BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch: New Studio on Broadway.
A favorite project of my professional life was being a part of the award-winning Off-Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd, where I was the standby for Johanna, Beggar Woman, and Pirelli. It was immersive, in a pie shop built inside Barrow St. Theatre, and it was spooky, and I devoured every minute of it. Mr. Sondheim loved our production, and graced our pie shop with his presence a few times, as did many celebrities!
I've helped develop countless new musicals over the years, which is a big passion of mine. I love the rehearsal process, I love the collaboration, I love recording demos -- and I actually have a self-titled jazz album available online! Another *cool* thing is I am the soloist on an Emmy nominated song, "Beautiful Things Cann Grow", featured in the HBO documentary Song of Parkland.
Thanks for coming! I'm fun on Instagram, too, follow along @monetsabel on all platforms!
XOXO,
Monet
